Vote for Your Favorite Creative Portrait Pop Up Ideas for JSP's Upcoming Sessions

Are you ready to be part of something truly exciting? I'm planning my very first creative portrait pop up sessions in 2026, and I want your input. This is your chance to shape a unique experience that blends artistry, personality, and fun into every picture. Whether you love bold colors, natural light, or imaginative themes, your vote will help me create portraits that stand out and capture truly unique images in every session. I'm looking to add 4 pop up sessions to my 2026 calendar. The 4 most voted on, will make the 2026 cut! I'm thinking the remaining 4 will roll over to my 2027 calendar.

Here’s a list of creative portrait ideas I'm considering. Each option offers a different way to capture personality and style. Read through them, imagine the possibilities, and vote for the ones that inspire you most.

1. Vintage Cars & Stars - (My vision involves and old car with 50's/60's inspired outfits with an old Hollywood star motif)

Imagine portraits set outdoors, using natural elements like trees, flowers, or water as a background all centered around a vintage car. This style brings a vintage feel to pictures and highlights the connection between the subject and the car. Car's can represent freedom. Getting away driving down an open road, singing to good soul moving music. It’s perfect for clients who enjoy vintage styles, old cars and want their portraits to reflect a era almost forgotten and creativity to bring it back, maybe just briefly.

  • Use of natural light for soft, flattering effects

  • Incorporation of seasonal colors and textures

  • Poses that interact with the surroundings, like the open roads, fast cars and freedom, think old Hollywood type stars

This approach creates pictures that feel alive and timeless, capturing moments of quiet strength and natural beauty.

2. Bold Color Pop (My vision involves bright colors with an 80's style vibe in mind)

For those who love vibrant, eye-catching images, bold color play offers a fun and creative twist. This idea uses bright backgrounds, colorful props, and wardrobe choices that pop. It’s a chance to experiment with contrasts and patterns, making each portrait a lively expression of personality.

  • Use of colored gels or lighting for dramatic effects

  • Props like balloons, umbrellas, or painted walls

  • Outfits with strong colors or graphic prints

This style is exciting and energetic, perfect for clients who want their portraits to feel joyful and full of life.

3. Victorian Vibes (My vision is garden party, corseted dresses, parasols, gloves)

Step back in time with portraits inspired by classic styles from the past. Vintage vibes bring a nostalgic, artistic touch to pictures, using props, clothing, and settings that recall different eras. This idea suits clients who appreciate history, storytelling, and a timeless aesthetic.

  • Use of sepia or black-and-white filters

  • Victorian styled clothing and accessories

  • Settings like old teas set, vintage pieces, and beautiful dresses

These portraits tell stories and invite viewers to imagine the lives behind the images, adding depth and character.

4. Painterly Portrait (My vision is a Rembrandt painting style)

Playing with light and shadow can create dramatic, mysterious portraits. This idea focuses on shapes and outlines, using strong backlighting or side lighting to emphasize form rather than detail. It’s a creative way to highlight mood and emotion in pictures.

  • Use of window light or outdoor sunset lighting

  • Silhouettes against colorful backgrounds or textured walls

  • Minimalist poses that focus on body language

This style is perfect for clients who want portraits that feel thoughtful and visually striking.

5. Steampunk and Industrialized (My vision for this session is steampunk clothing, funky edgy, and unique)

For a modern, edgy look, urban and industrial backdrops offer a rich canvas. Think graffiti walls, metal structures, and city streets. These settings add texture and energy to portraits, making them feel contemporary and bold.

  • Use of concrete, brick, and metal surfaces

  • Incorporation of street art and urban details

  • Casual, confident poses that match the vibe

This idea suits clients who want pictures that reflect city life and a strong sense of style.

6. Whimsical Themes (My vision for this is fine art portraiture, think more art vs. normal images)

Adding props and themed setups can make portrait sessions more fun and imaginative. From hats and glasses to balloons and confetti, props invite spontaneity and laughter. Themes like “clouds,” “flowers,” or “bright colors”, "fairy tale" add storytelling elements that make pictures memorable.

  • Use of colorful, whimsical props

  • Creative themes tailored to photographers interests

  • Encouragement of playful poses and expressions

This approach creates a relaxed atmosphere where clients can enjoy the session and express creativity freely.

7. Minimalist and Clean Portraits (My vision for this session is monochrome and minimal)

Sometimes less is more. Minimalist portraits focus on simplicity, clean lines, and subtle expressions. This style highlights the subject without distractions, using neutral backgrounds and soft lighting.

  • Plain or monochrome backgrounds

  • Simple clothing choices

  • Focus on facial expressions and and whole body shots

This idea works well for clients who want timeless, classic pictures that emphasize authenticity.

8. Double Exposure and Digital Effects (My vision of face profiles, with nature or city-scapes, shapes)

For a truly creative twist, double exposure and digital effects combine multiple images or add artistic overlays. This technique blends portraits with textures, landscapes, or abstract designs, creating unique, layered pictures.

  • Combining portraits with nature or cityscapes

  • Use of digital editing to add surreal elements

  • Artistic storytelling through image blending

This style is exciting for clients who want something different and visually complex.
